THE CONTEXT.

THE DATA IS IMPROVING BUT WE CAN’T FORGET THAT WE ARE STILL LEADING IN THE NEGATIVE.

We have good news! Youth unemployment and early school leaving have been reduced and we are getting closer and closer to achieving the goals set out in the 2030 Agenda. Even so, we cannot relax as Spain continues to lead the ranking of youth unemployment and is in second position in terms of the early school dropout rate in the European Union.

THE LABOUR MARKET IS MORE POLARISED THAN EVER.

The pandemic has accelerated the trend towards labour market mismatch. This imbalance can be seen in the Beveridge Curve, which represents the inverse relationship between the unemployment rate and the vacancy rate, that is, the unemployment rate is falling too slowly for all the jobs that companies indicate they need.

THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IS STILL UNBALANCED.

There are many people with only basic education and many others with a university degree, but the percentage of intermediate level profiles is very low. In addition, there is a mismatch between the training of the population and the “new” jobs that are created, which are unknown or unattractive to young people.

THANKS TO THE ALLIANCE OF COMPANIES, WE ARE MANAGING TO IMPROVE THE SITUATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE.

In 2008, at the height of the crisis, early school leaving stood at 31.7%. Our response was to launch the Coach Project. 

If 14 years later, we have managed to reduce it to less than half (13.3%), we are convinced that together and thanks to the launch of the E3 Challenge Empowering Education and Employability, we will achieve the goal of the 2030 Agenda and reduce it to 9%.
